How to read the audit log

Understand each activity view and find the right recovery action.

Where to find it

Open Activity & delivery. Timeline, Emails, Sends, and Webhooks show the records available to your role for the selected publication.

Emails

This view shows publication-linked product emails such as sponsor review requests and submission receipts. Account-level emails may not appear in a publication’s log. Each record includes:

  • Recipient — the intended address
  • Kind — why the email was sent
  • Subject — preview the recipient saw
  • Status — pending / sent / failed
  • Last error — why it failed (if applicable)

Sends

This view shows every live send and manual export attempt. Each record includes:

  • Destination — which provider
  • Status — pending / sent / failed
  • External ID — the receipt ID returned by the provider
  • Last error — why it failed
  • Attempt count — how many times we tried

Click the issue title to jump to its post-mortem.

Webhooks

This view shows opens, clicks, bounces, and complaints reported by an email provider. Each record includes:

  • Provider — which email provider sent the event
  • Event type — e.g. email.opened
  • Issue — the issue it relates to (clickable to post-mortem)
  • Received at — when we got the event

PubOps ignores duplicate event IDs so the same provider event is not counted twice.

What to look for when something breaks

  • "Was the sponsor review email sent?" → Emails. Find the recipient and check the status and error. A sent status records provider acceptance, not inbox placement.
  • "Why didn't my issue send?" → Sends. Find the destination, read its outcome, and use Retry only if it is available. Unknown provider outcomes require reconciliation before retrying.
  • "Why is my audience chart empty?" → Webhooks. If there are no events, check the provider’s webhook URL, event selection, and signing secret.
